Nora’s Home 2013 Gala: Home, Sweet Home

Home, Sweet Home

After a year hiatus of fundraising Capital Funds to build Nora’s Home, the 2013 Gala was a highly anticipated event! Chaired by the glamorous pair, Caroline & Dr. Salim Dabaghi, the evening was filled with sweet thrills as guests entered the Royal Sonesta Hotel that had been transformed into a Candyland. Ariel silk dancers filled bottles of Champaign while sugarplum fairies danced on the stage.

That evening honored Laura & George Pontikes (of Satterfield & Pontikes Construction, Inc.—the home’s general contractor) and the young Sierra Beeching, transplant recipient and daughter of Board member and supporter, Rudy and Lisa Beeching. Sierra received a kidney from her father which allowed her to be able to pursue her dreams of being a dancer. She shared her talent with the audience that evening as well. The evening also featured recent American Idol finalist and kidney recipient, Scott MacIntyre.

The gala was a sweet treat for all, especially the guests of Nora’s Home, as the evening raised over $350,000 for the Adopt-A-Family Program. This program ensures no guest is ever turned away from the home due to the inability to pay.
