November 2023 marks a BIG year for Nora’s Home. Roll the calendar back to ten years ago at this same time and Nora’s Home was opening its doors and taking reservations as we began to welcome transplant patients and their families through our doors. Very soon this place would be referred to as their “home away from home” and be a haven where many would spend days, weeks and months while on their pre- and post-transplant journey.
For such an enormous milestone in our rich history, we took the opportunity to host a birthday celebration and invited our very own Nora’s Home guests, family and friends, community partners, volunteers, and staff to join us for a gathering with food, celebratory drinks and a birthday cake.
The home never looked better as it sparkled and shined, and Nora’s Home guests served as tour guides showing off the home. It was a great opportunity for the guests to share how the home has made an impact in their life and has given them one less worry while in Houston seeking medical care.
We thank everyone for being a special part of our story. We have accomplished a lot in 10 years – doubling our space with 2 buildings, serving over 1,700 guests, providing over 60,000 nights stayed, and never turning any guests away due to inability to pay. We’ve celebrated milestone after milestone because of the generosity of others! They have helped to make this a true “home away from home” to all who enter our doors.
