Nora’s Home Hosts 5th Annual Golf Classic

The Houston transplant community, golfers and supporters gathered at Hermann Park Golf Course for an early morning shotgun start to the Nora’s Home 5th Annual Golf Classic on Friday, October 19, 2018. More than 120 attendees and 29 teams helped Nora’s Home raise $77,390. In partnership with Satterfield & Pontikes Construction, Nora’s Home has raised over $300,000 during the past five years from hosting the Golf Classic. All funds directly support the Nora’s Home Adopt-A-Family fund, which provides financial assistance for organ transplant patients and families who cannot afford to pay the minimal nightly fee.

The Golf Classic began with breakfast before the teams competed for first, second and third place and for longest drive and closest to the pin. Teenager and liver recipient Cade Alpard, along with his father Scott, and team took home the prize for first place. Hart Plumbing was presented with the 2nd annual Satterfield & Pontikes Spirit Award for their ongoing support as sponsors of the Golf Classic. Nora’s Home guest and LVAD patient, Bobby Channell celebrated his 50th birthday and expressed how thankful he is to be a part of the Nora’s Home family while he awaits his heart transplant from Memorial Hermann.

After the competitive fun, guests had the chance to bid on a silent auction featuring floor seats to the Houston Rockets, an Astros suite for the 2019 season, club level Texans tickets, and a hunting trip. Guests also had the chance to win raffle prizes including a Yeti Hopper, Topgolf certificate, Kendra Scott jewelry and more.

“The Nora’s Home Golf Classic is a day we look forward to every year. The continued support from our generous sponsors and golf teams is outstanding and we are so thankful to have Satterfield & Pontikes Construction on our team,” said Nora’s Home Executive Director Natalie Lencioni. “Without them the Golf Classic or the newly opened Phase II Expansion wouldn’t be possible.”

Friday’s Golf Classic was supported by community partners including: Diversified Thermal, Jomar Electrical, Hart Plumbing, No Label Brewing, Sprint Waste Services, Ellis Tudzin, Sendero Industries, Myrex Industries, LECS Electrical Contractors, A.W. Mechanical, D&H Masonry, CFI Mechanical, Alliant Insurance Services, Texas Saffire, Cigna, Applied Finish Systems, Executive Cleaning Corp, MAREK, and Satterfield & Pontikes Construction, Inc.
