2014 Gala: Cabaret Night

Cabaret

The Nora’s Home Gala took place on May 2, 2014 at the Hilton Americas-Houston Hotel. The festive cabaret night was a celebration of our grand opening in November 2013. Proceeds from the evening contributed to the Adopt-a-Family program, a fund that provides financial aid to low and moderate income patient guests and their family members who stay at Nora’s Home. The Adopt-a-Family program eases the financial burdens associated with traveling and staying near the world-renowned Texas Medical Center for hundreds of transplant patients who visit in Houston for transplant care.

Chaired by Anne Whitlock & Michael Skelly and Kathleen & Pat Wood, the evening was filled with fun as guests enjoyed good food, dancing, and even a visit from the Houston Rockets mascot Clutch. Prior to the gala, a special open house and reception was held at the home for the chairs and sponsors. Guests toured the facility and heard first-hand from guests on the difference their support was making for the transplant families staying at the home.

Honored that evening was Paula Hern and Tom Barbour of the JLH Foundation, a significant supporter of the home. Their gifts have been given in honor of Paula’s father, John L. Hern, who, after witnessing as a transplant patient the destitute circumstances of some facing the hardship of transplant life, believed that all transplant families should have access to the medicine, lodging, and other necessary accommodations unique to transplant life. Nora’s Home is honored to be part of the JLH legacy and grateful for the support of the foundation.
