Painting tiles at Family Night was great fun! Bryan and Hannah are from Lufkin, TX and recent A&M graduates. They painted tiles in honor of Bryan’s father who just received a double lung transplant. I enjoyed getting to know them, as well as a few other guests that hung out at our tile table all evening.

Amber is visiting from San Antonio to be with her mother who is awaiting a lung transplant. Visiting with Amber while she painted her “Dreamcatcher” tile was lovely. Amber hopes to become a psychologist, specifically one who works with veterans who have PTSD. I have no doubt that Amber will be a dreamcatcher for those veterans.

Elizabeth is visiting from Lake Charles, LA with her mother-in-law and husband, who just had a kidney transplant. On her tile, she wrote a prayer that she had written that day thanking God for blessing her husband with a successful transplant. Elizabeth was all smiles while painting her tile!

The cajun girl who painted this cajun-spirited tile is Mary, a lung transplant patient from Opelousas, Louisiana. Before returning to Nora’s Home this week, Mary had a friend from home help her design her very thought-out tile. “A fresh breath of air” pertains to the lung transplant that she received about three years ago. The colors of the fleur-de-lis represent her two favorite teams – yellow for the New Orleans Saints and red for her favorite Louisiana collegiate football team. She also painted a tile in memory of her donor, Gail. Mary was great fun to paint with!
