A POEM…

This week I wrote a poem about The Tile Project and the experience of sharing personal emotions and stories through artwork. I also decorated a tile of my own!

Graphite on white.

My words are curved into

images of things I cannot explain, but

in pencil lines, stories steeping

in paint.

Liquid thoughts.

A tile to remedy,

all that I feel is

tangible now.

TILE OF THE WEEK

(Mary’s tile)

Mary and her husband Joe have recently come to Nora’s Home from Cape Code, Maine. Mary is in Houston because she will be donating one of her kidneys to her cousin in a few days. Mary is one of the few live transplant donors I have met during The Tile Project on Monday nights.

Fact: In 2013, more than 1 out of 5 organ transplants performed in the United States were living donor transplants.
